Treetons’s
1st XI succeeded in notching up their easiest
victory of the season thus far as they strolled
past Sheffield Collegiate B at Abbeydale Park
at the weekend.
In
probably one of the lowest first innings totals
achieved in league history, Collegiate crumbled
to just 28 all out, and Treeton lost just one
wicket in reaching the lowly target in just 6.3
overs.
Steve
Foster instantly took a liking to the conditions
as he removed three Collegiate
batsmen in the first over courtesy of a hat-trick,
coming on the same ground where he had previously
taken ten wickets in a match. It was mentioned
it maybe on the cards again on this occasion,
that was until Gary Montgomery got in on the act
and captured the fourth wicket to fall with just
one run on the board!
The
wickets continued to fall as there was no let
up for the Collegiate batsmen as Steve Foster
finished with 5 for 6 runs from seven overs and
Gary Montgomery collecting 4 for 12 bowled a devastating
spell in tandem to send the hosts back into the
pavilion for 28 all out, Sri Lankan Himesh Silva
picked up the final wicket to fall.
Treeton
got to 30 for 1 thanks to 15 from Andy Tomlinson
and 13 not out from Danny Kemp to secure a nine
wicket win for the visitors.
The
2nd XI experienced mixed fortunes with a superb
team effort to see off Oughtibridge in the League,
they weren’t so fortunate 24 hours later
as Wath B knocked them out of the Presidents Trophy.
Chasing
227 for victory, Treeton eased past the target
with almost eight overs to spare as Phil Barnes
lead the way striking a lively 95 and he was ably
supported by Rich Coleman who contributed 68 to
help Treeton to a five point win.
A
pathway through to the Quarter Finals of the Presidents
Trophy proved to be out of reach though as Treeton
were well beaten by a good young Wath B team the
following day.
Treeton
notched up 192 for 6 with main contributions coming
from George Barnes (51*), Phil Barnes (38) and
Rich Coleman (36) but it was insufficient as Wath
breezed to a nine wicket victory reaching 196
for the loss of just one wicket and knock Treeton
out of the Presidents Cup for this season at the
3rd Round stage.
Treeton’s
3rd XI got back to winning ways with a league
victory over Handsworth WMC, after restricting
the visitors to 89 all out, Treeton lost just
two wickets in reply reaching the required target
in the 22nd over.
