July
2009
This
week sees the arrival of Australian pace bowler
Marc Carson who is holidaying in the UK with his
family (wife Kelly, son Tristan and young daughter
Erica) for the month of July.
Having
heard of the news that Treeton’s own Sri
Lankan overseas bowler Himesh
Silva will be unavailable through injury until
the end of July, Marc has offered his services
to fill in during this period to help the 1st
XI consolidate their position at the top of the
Premier Division.
The
Club are thankful of his availability because
July is a massive month for the 1st team as they
face three of the four teams beneath them who
are part of the chasing pack. Carson will be available
for the games against Barnsley 2nd XI away (4th
July), Wickersley away (11th July), Wath home
(18th July) and Elsecar home (25th July).
Everyone
is well aware of Carso’s capabilities having
already spent four seasons at the club (2003 to
2006) and he has taken a total of 204 wickets
at 13.77 apiece in all competitions during this
time, and was a major contributor to the Club
winning the league in 2003 and 2006. He will further
re-enforce an already destructive bowling attack
and there’s sure to be a battle who takes
the new ball amongst Gary Montgomery, Ben Ashdown,
Steve Foster and Carso himself, good luck to Captain
Cobb keeping the bowlers happy!
The
Club would like to wish Marc, Kelly, Tristan and
Erica an enjoyable stay back in the UK during
July and here’s hoping Marc himself can
put in some great performances to try to help
Treeton regain the league title.
