Treeton’s
first team lost their unbeaten league record at
the hands of rivals Wickersley at Northfield Lane
after a poor batting display led to the home side
recording a victory by 45 runs.
Wickersley
elected to bat first and Treeton started well
as Gary Montgomery picked up a wicket with the
first delivery of the match and the wickets didn’t
stop there as the hosts were restricted to 53
for 5 and latterly 109 for 8 but Greg Norton struck
73 to add some respectability to the Wickersley
innings to propel them to a modest 174 all out.
Treeton’s
batsmen struggled to cope with the pace and accuracy
of Wickersley’s John Davies as he collected
four wickets in an over including a hat-trick
and Danny Kemp (47) and Ross Turner (24) were
the only players to make contributions of note
as Treeton were back in the shed for a meagre
129 all out and defeated for the first time in
the league this season in their twelth outing.
The
3rd XI were well beaten at home against Shardlows
having been set 143 for 8 by the visitors (David
Laing 3 for 37, George Bluff 3 for 33) Treeton
crumbled to just 89 all out (David Laing 23) and
to a loss by 54 runs.
