The club are delighted to announce the signing of Sri Lankan medium-pace

bowler Himesh Silva (SHM Silva) as it's overseas Professional for the 2009 season.

24 Year-old Himesh plays his domestic cricket for Chilaw Marians in his home country and has also represented Sri Lanka's Cricket Academy. In the 2008/2009 season for Chilaw Marians he has picked up 18 wickets in List-A (1 day) games at an average of just 12.33 which included a hat-trick in one match, whilst also collecting eight wickets in First Class matches despite missing a few games through a slight injury.

Himesh has already spent a season in England at local Yorkshire League side Rotherham Town in 2008 and despite arriving in England a few games into the season he picked up 27 wickets at an average of 28 apiece during his stay and also chipped in with some vital runs in the late order. Himesh (aka Berty) will hopefully be here in time for the start of the season.
